Linear Cutter Staplers and Their Types
The stapler is a medical instrument used in surgery today. It is used instead of sutures to close skin wounds or to join or remove parts of the body such as the intestine.
One type of stapler is the linear stapler, used in general surgery, bariatric surgery, chest surgery and side-to-side anastomoses to cut organs and tissues. It uses two rows of titanium staples and at the same time cuts and divides the tissue between the two double rows. The most important advantages of this stapler include good approximation of skin edges, lower risk of infection because it is sterile, greater speed and surgeon capability, less tissue irritation, less bleeding and better cosmetic results.

Staplers are usually divided into two groups: linear and circular. The linear type is itself divided into standard linear and linear cutter. As the name suggests, the purpose of a linear cutter is to make a cut in the target area. Staplers without a cutting function usually have different surgical uses than those with one.
One use of the linear cutter stapler in laparoscopic surgery is to reconstruct digestive organs after laparoscopic surgery. Its main role is to make a cut to remove an organ or to close a stump. It consists of a handle and a cartridge. Two rows of titanium staples line the cut, so the tissue between the two double rows is divided at the same time.
The linear cutter stapler cartridge is a device used in surgery to place staples on skin and tissue. The staples bring two edges of body tissue together and fasten them. They are made of titanium alloy, which reduces magnetic effects and metal artifacts on CT scans and MRI. Another advantage of this alloy is reduced tissue sensitivity for the patient. The most important advantages of this cartridge include shorter surgery and anesthesia time, less bleeding, less tissue damage, and lower risk of contamination and infection.

Linear cutter staplers have handles used to open and close the jaws. They also have a 360-degree rotating dial that meets surgical angle needs for reconstruction and for intervention during surgery. Six gear settings ensure the cutting component rotates and reaches the desired working position. Three column types, standard, short and long, are also used in their construction. The staple body is another component of the linear cutter cartridge and is used for different shafts.
Although surgical staplers have advantages over the old method of suturing, they have their own risks. One is when the device does not fire completely, so the wound does not close fully or the tissue is damaged, which in turn can injure or even kill the patient. In some cases, unlike the previous one where the doctor is not at fault, the doctor is responsible for the wound not being closed properly, whether or not the stapler worked correctly.
